‘A Gentleman’s Guide to Love And Murder’

Katherine will serve as assistant director, alongside Eleanor Holdrige in ''A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder” at the Olney Theatre Center.

This Tony Award winner for Best Musical is a hilarious and lyrical satire of money, manners, morals, and, yes, murder. After his mother’s death, Monty Navarro is shocked and delighted to learn that she had a secret: she’s related to the absurdly wealthy and aristocratic D’Ysquith family. And if, at first, Monty hoped his new relations might provide a sorely needed cash infusion, as eighth in line to the title of Earl of Highhurst, there isn’t much hope for him inheriting the family treasure. When Monty’s reunion with one of his long-lost kinfolk suddenly results in him moving into seventh place, he wonders to himself, “Why stop there?” .

In addition to her performing career, Katherine is a proud educator. At the collegiate level, she has served as an adjunct professor at American University, and a guest lecturer at Princeton University, specializing in musical theatre voice. She believes strongly in character driven approach to musical interpretation, and demands a high level of musicianship from her students. In addition to repertoire and performance, Katherine’s students are expected to excel at ear training, sight reading and music theory. She encourages students to explore a wide range of genres including classical and pop/rock in additional to musical theatre, as a form of cross training the voice to gain greater knowledge, control and versatility. Katherine values student’s individual needs, and works to build self-awareness, confidence and a skill set that can be carried through a lifetime of singing.
